Help us turn our vision into a reality! We want all of our students to have the benefit of an early education, as well as have a safe, structured, encouraging environment after school.
Our goal, as a community, is to build a solid foundation for each child, starting with early education. Currently we do not have one single registered child care provider in South Wasco County. That is a daunting fact. The only pre-school that is available within the span of our 70 mile county is one Head Start Program. However, they cannot even begin to accommodate all of the pre-primary children in our area. A child that starts Kindergarten without a solid Pre-K education, is at risk for being significantly behind academically, socially, and emotionally.
We need your donation to implement two additional Pre-School classes. One would be held two mornings a week, and the other would offer classes in the afternoons. This would provide pre-school for every child, every day of the week, and throughout the day, if needed. Since we do not have any registered child care providers in our county, we feel as if this is a vital addition to our community. Young children need stability, structure, and constant learning through play, in order to be academically ready for school. This program would offer that.
Our goal as a community is to also have a K-6 after school program. Every student deserves not only the privilege of exploration and learning beyond the classroom, but also a safe place to go after school. Yet due to our rural location, and economic position, these experiences are non-existent. In addition, two years ago Music and Art electives were eliminated from the K-6 curriculum due to budget cuts. Although our teachers do a fantastic job of incorporating all subjects into the classroom, our students still need these much needed electives to expand their creativity, critical thinking skills, and fine motor skills.
We need your donation to provide Our K-6 an after school program that would offer students a structured period where they could finish their homework, build social relationships, and participate in fun projects that focus on Art, Music. Included in the curriculum would be a music teacher that would come twice a week to teach Ukulele lessons. (A Ukulele has been generously donated to each student that enrolls in the music class by a private donor in our community.)
This fundraiser has been generously matched by the Davila Foundation. For every dollar you donate, they will match and donate the same amount towards our goal of early education and after school programs. All donations are tax deductible. Join us in making our vision a reality!
